House of Toyota

  The house of Toyota is a graphical representation of the Toyota Production System depicted in the form of a house.  Taiichi Ohno was given credit for much of the systems development.  The Toyota Production System works together with 5 key elements:​

1. Goals of the organization - What are the goals, objectives and or vision of your organization?
2. Just-In-Time - How will you support your goals from an operations perspective?
3. Jidoka - How will you support your goals from a quality perspective?
4. Operational Stability - What will you do to create an environment that has stability in all areas and provides a firm structure that supports your two pillars?
5. Culture/People -  How will you influence the behaviors of the people who do the work?  How will you encourage the focus on continuous improvement?

  This model is still used today by many lean organizations.  The purpose of this innovative model is to help lean organizations understand all the components of lean and implement each one of them.
