A Customer is any party that receives or requests goods or services. Customers are oftenties considered to be one of the most important participants in a supply chain. They drive value. They create demand and they express wants and needs that can be transformed.
Customers can be both internal, meaning that the customer is downstream of your process step or external like in the case of someone who has requested for you to fulfill a need or want. Customers receive outputs from upstream process steps.
John makes valve covers and passes them onto Bill who then polishes the valve covers. Bill then sends the valve covers to Martha who packages the valve covers and ships them from Valves Made Easy to Valve's R' Us. Who are the Internal Customers in this process and who is the External Customer in the Process?
